Community Against Fascism
For decades, right-wing groups have been organizing to expropriate our school board meetings with regressive messaging that upholds white supremacy, the patriarchy, heteronormativity, conservative Christianity, ableism, and capitalism. More recently, the extremist hate group, Moms for Liberty, has claimed this mantle, inflaming school board meetings with belligerent complaints about education on systemic racism and gender identity in the classroom.
Underestimating hate groups like Moms for Liberty and rolling our eyes at their open fascism is not protecting our children’s futures. Our silence and acquiescence are letting them win.
We have to show up. We have to be vocal. We have to be smart.
We progressive people must be present at every school board meeting in order to push clearly-articulated progressive paragons based on empathy and humanity and supported by fact. It’s time for our children’s future to be instituted by progression, not white supremacist fear.
