The Future Is Indigenous
By Jo Lorenz
The video above shows Bruce Shillingsworth, a Muruwari and Budjiti man of Australia’s north-west NSW river lands, talking about the impact Australia’s crippling drought is having on the Indigenous community who have been left voiceless.
“The water mis-management, the corruption, the corporate greed, and capitalism in this country, has killed our rivers,” Bruce said. “This is the second wave of genocide.”
If you are disgusted — like we are! — that the First Nations folk of Australia have to plead for action, while corrupt, gluttonous politicians across the globe piss away the planet and her people, then please do something about it.
Like, write to Australia’s Prime Minister!
Step 1)
Copy the following text
To Scott Morrison,
The NSW Natural Resources Commission has declared hat the Barwon-Darling is an “ecosystem in crisis”, due to the water sharing plan that covers the area in the north of the state.
I am writing to call for a desperate overhaul. The in-action of the Australian government is killing the Barwon-Darling river system, as well as the Indigenous communities who depend on it and the complex eco-systems surrounding it.
We the people demand that the Australian government makes some proper policies around this NOW! If you, as the Australian Prime Minister, is NOT willing to do something here, then who is?
1) Stop these big irrigators
2) Limit how much water they’re allowed to pump
3) Ensure there is enough water for Indigenous communities
4) Ensure small farmers get a portion of that.
As our Prime Minister of Australia, remember who you serve: the Australian people, the Australian land, the Australian environment. Not capitalist greed and genocide.
Sincerely,
<Your Name>
Step 3)
Fill in the rest of the firm (it will take you 30 seconds) and send!
Australia’s Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, has been f_cking around for far too long and we have all let him and his privileged cronies get away with murder.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
